Introducing the INDO BOARD-Balance Your Way To The Dream Body. by Kevin Hubble

Many of us have wanted to be that hip surfer with the perfect body…today I’ll explore the new fitness trend that can the dream happen for anyone!

What is the Indo Board?

The Indo Board is a revolutionary balance board that is taking the world by storm, with personal trainers and celebrities succumbing to the latest fitness trend. The aim is to ride on the board for as long as you can without falling off. However, when you are confident you can increase the intensity and fun by learning skills and tricks.

Indo Board was envisaged and created by surfer, Hunter Joslin. It was originally meant for skiers and surfers to practice with when not in the waves, but has now been taken up by the rest of us health fanatics. Celebrity a-listers such as Zac Efron and Cameron Diaz are said to be fans of the balance boards and have credited this to maintaining a Hollywood body.

Benefits of Using the IndoBoard

At first, being a surfer, I found the Indo Board was a great tool to use to practice with when I couldn’t get put and catch some waves, but I also found that using it more and more has helped with my overall fitness. I have also used the Indo Board with clients at the gym, and not only do my clients love using the board, but it really is a great fitness tool – below are what I have found to be the main benefits of using an IndoBoard:

1. Total Body Toning:

Indo Boarding is a great way to work all the areas of your body that you want to tone and improve. The Indo Board helps tone your abdominals, glutes, quads, and basically all the parts of the body that most people want to improve.

2. Improves Balance, Co-ordination and Core Strength:

Indo Boarding takes fitness training to a different level. The board helps develop balance, motor coordination skills, and weight distribution. It is also a great way of improving your core strength as it forces you to balance on an unstable surface. It is an effective tool as it wakes up your nervous system and improves your sense of balance, and having a good sense of balance is vital if you want the perfect body.

3. Versatility:

When using the Indo Board, you can tailor the exercises the physique and performance goals of he each individual. Plus, Indo Board has been “specifically designed to offer the most dynamic and unstable balance training available, and offers a wide range of products that can be used easily and safely by individuals ranging in age from young children to senior adults”. All of the products that come from Indo Board have either a roller or a cushion. The roller is a plastic cylinder shape and it is seen as the more advanced of the two for balance. The cushion is a round, more stable shape to balance on.

4. You can use it anywhere:

Another great thing about the Indo Board is that you can go to your local gym or use it in the comfort of your own home, making it accessible to everyone.

5. Rehabilitation:

Although one of the main uses of the Indo Board when it was created was to simply have a fun and challenging experience, the Indo Board is has also proven to be useful for the rehabilitation of injuries.

How to Use the Indo Board

So how do you actually use the Indo Board?

Firstly you have to stand on the tilted board and slowly bring the board up to a vertical level and balance. You have to ‘find your centre’, by bringing your head and your shoulders up. Your knees also have to be slightly bent to help keep balance.

Once you feel you are able to balance it is time to let the fun commence! From then on you can start see ‘sawing’ on the board and the more your confidence grows the longer you will be able to stay on the board. You will also be able to add other exercises such as squats, lunges and free-weight manoeuvres such as bicep curls and tricep extensions – but only when you are ready.

When starting to Indo Board it is important that you must not be alone – when getting used to balancing you need someone there as support. You can use the Indo Board with bear feet or with footwear on. However, for beginners it is better to balance bare feet as you will have more grip.

Indo Board is a personal fitness routine so only you can be the judge of how far you can go.
